SUMMARY:Walk and tour - Old Fever Hospital\, Mt Victoria
DESCRIPTION:To celebrate 100 years since the opening of the old Fever Hospital\, on Sunday March 17 the Society is offering a guided walk through the Town Belt\, with historical commentary\, to the hospital building (now SPCA).  \nOn arrival\, there will be a special tour of the building and a talk about its history by SPCA staff\, followed by afternoon tea. \nFor the walk: meet at the quarry at the top of Ellice Street at 2 pm. Wear sensible shoes as we will be climbing up dirt tracks (some steep). Walk ends at the SPCA. \nFever Hospital visit only: meet at 3pm outside the SPCA entrance\, which is off Alexandra Road. Parking is available on the grounds. \nIf it rains\, or there are high winds\, the walk will be cancelled\, but the SPCA tour will proceed. \nFriends\, family and neighbours welcome. \nKoha to SPCA of $5 would be welcomed. \nFor further information phone Alan on 021 1229875 or 38519022

Last year she was declared ‘venerable’ by the Catholic Church\, a milestone on the path to her canonization as New Zealand’s first-ever saint. \n
